Anthony DeJoseph, PsyD
Anthony DeJoseph, PsyD, is a licensed clinical psychologist at Associates In Behavioral Science, providing comprehensive behavioral health care to individuals and families living in and around Berwyn and West Dundee, Illinois. Dr. DeJoseph earned his psychology degree from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology in Chicago. After graduation, he completed an inpatient diagnostic program and an internship at Chicago Read Mental Health Center. There, Dr. DeJoseph received hands-on training in treating people with chronic and severe mental illnesses. Dr. DeJoseph opened Associates in Behavioral Science in 1989. In the more than three decades since, he’s treated thousands of patients suffering from behavioral disorders like depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). When he isn’t treating psychiatric and psychological disorders, Dr. DeJoseph assists local behavioral health treatment systems and health care organizations with management, administration, and leadership. In fact, throughout his career, Dr. DeJoseph has served in various leadership positions, including CEO of Genesis Health Systems, President and CEO of University Hospital in Chicago (now UChicago Medicine), and Vice President of a hospital group in Illinois. Alfa DeJoseph established the Practice with Dr. Anthony DeJoseph in 1994. She is in charge of the day-today-operations, business ventures, quality improvement and hiring of staff. Alfa, has a well-rounded background in practice management and holistic services. Bilingual, fluent in Spanish.
Dan Dresher, Psy.D
Daniel is our Clinical Director who employs psychodynamic, IFS and CBT approaches to therapy. He has more than 15 years of experience working with a wide range of clinical presentations in both outpatient and inpatient clinical settings. Daniel lived overseas for many years and strives to provide culturally-sensitive treatment to English and Spanish-speaking populations with developmental trauma, interpersonal conflicts, sexual abuse, sexual orientation and gender identification issues, and crisis counseling.
Dana Lowenthal, LCPC
Dana has been in the counseling field for over 20 years combining vast experience with diverse populations. She strongly believes in a holistic, strength-based approach. Dana partners with her clients to create an effective treatment plan which addresses her client’s struggles. Utilizing evidence-based practices, she addresses issues such as anxiety, depression, mood disorders and trauma. She believes it is essential that the client be in charge of their own progress and she will support their road to health.
Edith Rayo, LPC
Edith works with our Latino population in addressing racism, stereotypes, and bias within our community. She works with clients who have experienced domestic violence as well as with offenders of domestic violence. She utilizes DBT and mindfulness in her therapeutic approach to allow the client to identify areas of personal strength and growth. She utilizes a holistic approach and teaches clients the importance of internal healing. Edith works with young adults as well as adults who struggle with anxiety, depression and PTSD. Bilingual, fluent in Spanish.
Ewa Ehrlich, APRN
Ewa Ehrlich, APRN, is our psychiatry provider. She has been in practice for 10 years and comes to us from Loyola University Medical Center and St. Anthony Hospital. Ewa specializes in diagnosing mental illnesses and prescribing medications in both inpatient and outpatient clinical environments. Ewa has a warm, personable approach to treating children, adolescents and adults with mood and psychotic disorders, eating disorders, PTSD, depression and anxiety. Ewa is multilingual and fluent in English, Polish and Afrikaans.
Kathy Suarez, LCPC
Kathy has been helping clients with life’s transitions for over 7 years. She is CADC-certified and is working towards her PsyD. Kathy has helped clients address personal growth, life skills, parent and child relationships, anger issues, PTSD, addiction and mood disorders. Kathy engages clients in her sessions by allowing them to feel heard and understood. She includes evidence-based approaches such as motivational interviewing but also enjoys person-centered therapy to help her clients process difficult issues in a safe setting. Kathy is multilingual in Polish, Spanish and English.
Kathy Osler, LCPC
Kathy has over 25 years of experience providing talk therapy as well as art therapy to minors and adults who are experiencing anger, anxiety, grief, behavioral issues and trauma. She utilizes art therapy to improve cognitive and sensory-motor functions to help foster healing, increase self-esteem, cultivate emotional resilience, reduce and resolve conflicts and address other clinical issues. Kathy’s clients have described her as creative, fun, engaging and have expressed they feel comfortable around her which has allowed them to further explore their inner selves.
Margarita Perez, LCSW
Margarita specializes in working with veterans and their families. She has over 15 years of experience which helps her recognize how biological, psychological, social and spiritual factors can affect our ability to make healthy changes in our life. Margarita believes that by addressing the mind, body and spiritual aspect of our lives, she can help clients view life in a more beneficial and healthier manner. Margarita is bilingual and works with families, couples, children and teens to help them identify life’s struggles and then helps them take charge of their life. Bilingual, fluent in Spanish.
Martha Cruz, LCSW
Martha is an experienced social worker who is dedicated to ensuring clients’ needs are met. She has over 15 years of experience in the clinical field and specializes in family-focused therapy. She explores family dynamics and schemas to build a treatment plan to empower the client to take charge of their life. Martha specializes in grief, traumatic events, life transitions as well as anxiety and depression. She is also bilingual in Spanish which allows her to assist clients who feel they don’t have a voice in their communities, thereby becoming their clinical ambassador.
Paola Cervantes
Paola is our assistant manager. She helps clients schedule their sessions, coordinates with therapists, manages insurance issues, and welcomes our clients to a nurturing environment when they walk in the door. Paola will assist our clients navigate the difficulties that come with starting counseling. She is warm, kind, and eager to guide and help. Bilingual, fluent in Spanish
Victoria Muhammad-Lisle, LCPC
Victoria has over 25 years of experience dealing with individuals who struggle with family conflict and relationships. She utilizes IFS and focuses on providing conflict resolution skills to her clients. She has experience in dealing with clients with trauma, women’s issues, minority and social-economic issues, LGBTQIA+, and clients coping with domestic violence. She received training in treating clients who have witnessed violence.
